![]() #SOULSEEKQT PORT CLOSED PRO#I am saying flaw because how else do you describe being restricted access to the IPtables of the router? Okay so you guys are saying I need pro plus (i have pro) and a static IP. I just got my HN7000S and discovered this same flaw. I hope that helps you understand what you're dealing with without dampening your enthusiasm. In order to enjoy and get the most use out of your system, you need to understand what it is, what it can and can't do, and accept the realities of satellite service. What satellite internet IS, is a damn good alternative to dial-up for those of us that have no other real options. If you continue to expect cable-like performance from HughesNet, you'll continue to be disappointed. It's physically impossible due to the distance the signal has to travel, as well as many other factors. Satellite internet is NOT meant to be, nor is it capable of being a replacement for terrestrial-based broadband like DSL and cable. Two or more often cause conflicts and more problems.Īs to your statement that things were easier and faster when you had Comcast, well.you need to come to the realization that this is not Comcast. ![]() You should only run ONE software firewall at a time. ![]() ![]() The router will provide good protection with its firewall capabilities.Īs for your software firewalls, XP and McAfee, you're looking for trouble there. Depending on your current package, the static IP will cost $10 to $20 a month extra. As has been said before, you need to have a static IP and a router to do what you're trying to do. ![]()
